Rembrandt's "The glasses salesman" is on display in Leiden, The Netherlands
17 x 21 cm, Oil paint on panel
Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal, Leiden, The Netherlands
'The Glasses Salesman' was probably one of the first paintings Rembrandt made without any help. It is possible that Rembrandt wanted to express the sense of 'Seeing'. There are two other paintings we know of where he painted the senses 'Feeling' and 'Hearing.' Do you know what the other senses are? You're right: taste and smell.
