My name is Rembrandt. I'm portraying myself as a painter which is quite unusual. I think I did it only twice. The two circles on the light-coloured wall probably refer to the story of the Greek called Apelles. He was the most famous painter at the time of Alexander the Great, four centuries Before Christ. He was actually able to draw a perfect circle! By drawing circles in the background of his self portrait, Rembrandt sees himself in this painting as the Dutch Apelles!
